We are Selma Laroussi and Otman Amer, both passionate about catering and hospitality.
Otman Amer
With nearly 20 years of experience in the restaurant business, acquired across several countries, Otman finally settled in Montreal with his wife, Selma Laroussi. After working in several Montreal establishments, he decided to embark on a new adventure: open their own restaurant with Selma: Darna Bistroquet.
“Darna means “our house” in Arabic, and that's exactly the feeling we want to share with our neighborhood of Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie and our adopted city, Montreal.”
Selma Laroussi
A landscape architect by training, Selma is the creative soul behind Darna Bistroquet's decoration. She has carefully chosen objects that evoke their travel memories and their Moroccan roots. Passionate about cooking and hospitality, she designed a warm space, imbued with Moroccan hospitality, while remaining connected to the urban spirit of their neighborhood and the city.
With Darna Bistroquet, our objective is to make our culinary heritage shine, that of Morocco, the Maghreb and the Mediterranean. We want to make people discover our culture through our cuisine, by sharing key values: generosity, human warmth and conviviality, while integrating elements of our host city.
We put all our heart and soul into creating menus that highlight local products. Our dishes and drinks, strongly inspired by Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine, are served in small portions, encouraging sharing and moments of conviviality. Our aim is to arouse emotions and share taste discoveries.
Our cuisine highlights local and seasonal vegetables. Our signature cocktails reinterpret the great classics, enhanced with the unique touch of Darna. As for our wine list, it offers a varied selection, in perfect harmony with our menu, with a wide choice of wines by the glass at affordable prices.
We are committed to deconstructing pre-established ideas about Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine, to promoting regional specialties, and to offering a refined experience that will transport you elsewhere, with subtlety and elegance.
